Three male cardinals are busily gathering seeds about ten feet away. They haven’t noticed me from the window yet. I wonder if this is a sign we are going to have a harsh winter? Whenever I see cardinals I think of snow, because they are so brightly colored.

Still debating the whole negative scanner/digital camera/DV cam thing. My little 2.1 megapixel CoolPix 800 takes excellent, photo quality 5 x7s, which is the size I use most of the time. With a low-cost negative scanner, I can get slightly more than 10 megapixels. It’s not all about pixels, of course. You can just get more info out of a transparancy than you can with a CCD. The “range” of acceptable exposure for a digital pic is pretty slim. I can totally muck up a shot on film and get something usuable out of it. Usually.
The other thing is I’ll likely need a new Mac, and I’m sour to what Apple currently is offering. The iMac still seems like a good deal, though.
