(Betterhumans.com): It seems too good to be true: A drug that would let you eat all the bread, cheese, cream sauce and red meat you wanted without risking coronary disease, while at the same time decreasing insulin levels, decreasing blood pressure, increasing good cholesterol and extending your lifespan to a degree normally achieved through strict dieting. Welcome to the promises of resveratrol. . .
Hey! This sounds too good to be true! Where can I buy some?
(Scotsman.com): Women who strictly follow the Atkins diet could be damaging their chances of getting pregnant, according to new research.
If you’re morbidly obese, aren’t those chances pretty slim anyway?
(forgottenoh.com) (via boingboing): Between 1920 and 1927 the city built the subway’s one line, which ran seven miles south through downtown. When they ran out of money the project was placed on hiatus, but the Great Depression really buried it.
I can’t get enough of cool abandoned site photography. I wonder if NW Arkansas has any wierd, abandoned properties (besides our neighbor’s creepy greenhouse)?
After driving Colli and Ash to LR for the first leg of their big journey to bball camp in Tennessee, I had free day to spend catching up with old friends. Went to Flying Saucer with Will for dinner and then guitar shopping with Jeff the next day. Jeff, whom I’ve known since the 7th grade, is 6-foot-8 and is a great keyboard player. He’s in the market for an acoustic guitar with a built-in microphone/pickup to play around with. We found a really nice Taylor that sounds great.
We talked some about the “old days” of The Band, which brought back some great memories. Often, I am asked, “Jack, what was it like to be a rock-and-roll guitar-playing god in high school?” When I am asked this, I usually refer them to this picture (23k jpg). Autographed 8×10 glossies available!
(MotorcycleRoads.US): “To be included in the this list, a road or highway must have twisties or sweeping curves and/or be scenic. Interstate or limited-access highways and roads in urban areas are not listed with some exceptions. ‘If you’re going to ride the freeways you might as well take the car.’”
Since my wife’s grandmother recently purchased an iMac and is making forays onto the Internet, I’ve been trying to think of some sites that are interesting and accessible. You know, those sites that when you first went online seemed truly amazing. One that I came up with is The Internet Movie Database (IMDb), “the biggest, best, most award-winning movie site on the planet.” It has all the info you’d ever want on virtually every movie ever made.
If anyone out there can recommend sites in a similar vein, please recommend in the comments.
