Boot Hill

There is an Irish proverb that says, “It is long waiting for a dead man’s boots.” I didn’t have to wait long at the estate sale down the street from us, though, where I purchased a like-new pair of lizard-skin boots for $20. Estate sales feel macabre to me, but at the same time, I’d feel better knowing someone was enjoying my nice boots for 20 bucks instead of them being dumped at the Salvation Army.

On the other hand, I’d think I’d like to keep my boots on, thank you, at least my good pair, which, for now, are these lizard-skins.
