Goobuntu
The Register: Google is preparing its own distribution of Linux for the desktop, in a possible bid to take on Microsoft in its core business - desktop software. A version of the increasingly popular Ubuntu desktop Linux distribution, based on Debian and the Gnome desktop, it is known internally as ‘Goobuntu.’
Ash’s dumpster-PIII PC runs Ubuntu quite well (email, web, word processing, IM-ing), so I’m a big fan of Ubuntu, having tried a couple other distros with mixed success. Go Ubuntu!
Update: Mat ruins my day and points out in the comments that this rumor has been denied by the Ubuntunians. This raises a very important question: Which one of us is geekier?
