If Arkansas were a pie . . .

Sunday, April 23rd, 2006

If you can think of a reason why Arkansas should not be The Moon Pie State, feel free to chime in.

UPDATE: Googling “Arkansas” and “moon pie” yields 17,000 results; “Mississippi” and “Moon Pie” yields 32,500 results. So, we may not have the most valid claim to the Moon Pie as our State Pie, but maybe we can sneak it through before those folks in Mississippi get a clue. I’d settle for Lemon Meringue, though, or Little Debbie Oatmeal Pies.

Star Wars Kid settles lawsuit with tormenting peers

Friday, April 7th, 2006

Boing Boing: In the Globe and Mail today, news that Ghyslain “Star Wars Kid” Raza and parents have settled their lawsuit against school bullies who released the infamous video onto the interwebs.

I’m quoting BoingBoing here because I disagree with Xeni’s characterization of the “bullies.” Clearly, if one videotapes oneself performing light-saber moves using school equipment, you deserve all you get. And, come on, either this kind of event makes you more connected to your inner Jedi, or it serves as a socially-correcting force (heh) by which you might actually get a date. Either way, you’d be thanking these “bullies” later. [I should note here that the first time I saw one of the variants of this movie, I literally laughed until I cried].
