Egg & I

Tuesday, July 31st, 2007

We’re going back to the famous Egg & I this morning before we begin our trek to San Diego. This is a well-known Vegas breakfast joint that also does dinner theater. You could easily imagine a bleary-eyed Dino enjoying a breakfast skillet here before retiring for the “day.” Note: It’s different than the chain that comes up when you google it. I don’t know how.

Viva LV

Sunday, July 29th, 2007

Ash has trained for a week with Joe Abunassar at his new facility (AIB) in Las Vegas. Right now, we’re staying at the Green Valley Ranch Resort. Next, we’re headed to San Diego for the Adidas Phenom Camp. I won $55 in three minutes at blackjack last nite! Some photos are up in the usual places.

Bad experience at Sears

Thursday, July 26th, 2007

Do not buy tires from Sears. Ever. I’ll make this short:

  1. Called Sears at noon to inquire about tires for Colli’s car. Yep. Got ‘em. Decent brand, too. Okay price.
  2. Show up at 5 p.m. “It’ll be two hours.” What the hell. I gotta travel tomorrow.
  3. 2.5 hours later, car still on rack. Wait in line 10 minutes to talk to ONLY PERSON IN THE STORE.
  4. Told they “only had three tires” and “were going to call me.”
  5. Get car. Leave.

Do not buy tires at Sears. They will waste your time, and you can get much better deals at tirerack.com, which is what I usually do anyway.

Note: Sears has been successfully sued for overcharging people in their automotive department. Tonite, I personally witnessed the department manager tell a young couple they needed to have their alignment checked every 4,000 miles. Do not buy tires at Sears, especially in Fayetteville, Arkansas.

Britt Daniel, Replacement?

Wednesday, July 25th, 2007

Britt Daniel is the new Paul Westerberg, without the melancholy alcohol problem. I wanna hear Spoon cover “Here Comes a Regular.”

Peanuts, by Charles Bukowski

Wednesday, July 25th, 2007

The Charlie Brown/Bukowski mashup going around isn’t as good as it could be, so I’m not linking it.

RIP, Weekly World News

Monday, July 23rd, 2007

I’m madder than a monkey with a rotten banana about the demise of the Weekly World News. I had a subscription in college, but ever since Ed Anger died, it hasn’t been the same.

Run, Jack, run

Sunday, July 22nd, 2007

I’m running again, which means I haven’t been running in a while. About five years ago, I was running 25-30 miles a week. At the time, that level of exercise helped me deal with my parents’ illnesses. I don’t require that kind of serotonin boost these days to make it through the week, but I do miss the fitness level that I had attained. Therefore, I have started running three miles 3-4 times a week. The first few nights were tough, but I already feel better. Some people over at 43 Things are doing a three-mile run thing, too. How did people run before iPods?
